Anna
Anna (1967)
IN FRENCH LANGUAGE WITH ENGLISH SUBTITLES
Directed by Pierre Koralnik, France
Here is a beautiful copy of this often requested French television movie! Anna Karina plays herself in this light-hearted pop-art musical. Also starring Jean-Claude Brialy as the manager of a hip ad agency whom falls in love with the face of a girl he sees in a photo. So lovestruck is he that he fails to notice that the face belongs to one of his employees, Anna, a graphic artist in his art department. Also with Serge Gainsbourg (who composed the music) and Marianne Faithful who sings one number. A bittersweet comic / drama revolving around the 1960s fashion / model industry with some very cool visuals and excellent music. Hard to find with easy to read burned-in English subtitles. (Also available in a non-subtitled version.) For more Serge Gainsbourg also see Paris n'existe pas and Madame Claude.

¡Dame un poco de amooor...! (aka ¡Dame un poco de amor!, 1968)
SLIGHTLY WIDE-SCREEN PICTURE
IN SPANISH LANGUAGE WITH NO SUBTITLES
Directed by José María Forqué with segments by Francisco Macián, Spain
This wild rock-n-roll spy comedy starring Spanish rockers "Los Bravos" plays almost like a hyper-paced extended Spanish "Monkees" t.v. episode but with really decent production values! The Los Bravos music is a bit on the "pop" side of rock-n-roll but still has it's charm. There are some wild psychedelic effects, some very groovy sets and an awesome animated sequence towards the end done in a sort-of psychedelic rotoscope style! Looks very nice!

Deadman's Curve
Deadman's Curve (1978)
Directed by Richard Compton, USA
Underrated TV movie that tells the moving story of rock stars Jan and Dean. Richard Hatch (as Jan Berry) and Bruce Davison (as Dean Torrence) give great performances along with Wolfman Jack and Susan Sullivan. Featuring cameos by Dick Clark, The Beach Boys' Mike Love and Jan Berry himself! Looks really nice!

Diary of a Teenage Hitchhiker
Diary of a Teenage Hitchhiker (1979)

Dated and unintentionally funny made-for-TV movie that is a warning to all you teenagers out there that are still thumbin' it! Starring young Charlene Tilton as Julie, a girl who just won't learn the dangers of hitchhiking even after another girl is killed by an unseen hot-rod drivin' maniac! Look for Christopher Knight ("The Brady Bunch"'s Peter) as Julie's boyfriend! If schmaltzy '70s stuff is your cup of Kool Aid then thumb a ride with this one!

du BEAT-e-o
du Beat-e-o (duBEAT-e-o aka We're all Crazy Now, 1984)
Directed by Alan Sacks, USA
Okay, this film is pretty awful, but it contains the remnants of some of the great footage of Joan Jett with a pseudo-Runaways type band! These clips from ‘79 are the best thing about the movie but they unfortunately have star Ray Sharkey yammering over top of them! He plays a movie director trying to finish the film-within-a-film which looks like it may have been pretty cool. Derf Scratch (from the band Fear) plays the film editor and there's soundtrack music by Social Distorion, Dr. Know, The Lounge Lizards, The Mentors and Tex And The Horseheads. Look for Cheryl "Rainbeaux" Smith as one of the fake-Runaways and The Mentors' El Duce as himself! Why isn't this film better? Rated R

Dynamite Chicken
Dynamite Chicken (1971)

Fireball Jungle
Fireball Jungle (1969)
Directed by Jose Prieto, USA
Man, oh, man! What a bizarre pic! Okay, lessee... the plot has something to do with corruption by the mob among some stock car racers... there's an obligatory catfight and some drug references. But the part you'll most remember is this totally wacked-out 5 minute middle section of the film that takes place in a bar with toilets instead of seats where a man sings a song to a poodle, a woman comes in with clothes and face makeup that makes her look like a walking checkered race flag, and when the cash register is opened it makes the sound of a toilet flushing... it goes on for a bit and makes no logical sense at all! You'll think someone dosed your Doritos when you see this thing! Then it's back to the story as if nuttin' happened! There's performances by an r&b singer and some gawdawful boy / girl vocal combo singing "Love Can Make You Happy"! There's a sign next to the band that says "The LSD For Lunch Bunch"! Ah, the '60s... John Russell and Allan Nixon star with Lon Chaney, Jr.! From the director of Shanty Tramp (also available)!

Go Ask Alice Go Ask Alice (1973)
Directed by John Korty, USA
"For a lonely girl, drugs provide an easy road to popularity and access to the depths of despair". And tons of unintentional laughs for the viewer! Infamous anti-drug made-for-tv movie starring Jamie Smith Jackson as the teenage Alice and William "Kirk Out" Shatner as dad! Look for Andy Griffith as the advice giving priest! As a kid I remember being forced to watch this in a 7th grade classroom (1976). It didn't help. Also with Ruth Roman, Julie Adams and Robert Carradine. Plus as added bonus: "When, Jenny? When?", An episode of the seventies television show "Insight" starring Maureen McCormick and Clark Brandon. Original Air Date: 1 February 1979.

Go, Johnny, Go!

Groupie Girl
Groupie Girl (aka I Am A Groupie, 1970)
ENGLISH LANGUAGE
Directed by Derek Ford, UK
Esme Jones is the low-key but chubby-inducing groupie of the title. She runs away from home and joins up with the member of a touring rock band, unaware of the empty life and heartbreak that lies ahead! This film is pretty much a straight forward softcore sexploitation flick but has gained a bit of a cult following because of the surprisingly good rock music score! Not a landmark picture by any stretch, but a pretty cool and enjoyable piece of time capsule hipdom!

Like It Is Like It Is (1968)
UN-MATTED FULL-FRAME VERSION

Directed by William Rotsler, USA
Psychedelic nudie documentary on the '60s San Francisco scene. This "documentary" may have just been an excuse to show the constant stream of t&a, but the excellent colorful naked go-go girl trip footage backed with offbeat freak-out rock (which takes up half of the running time) makes this a unique experience! You can tell that director Rotsler put a lot of effort into the photography and editing. Possibly the most psychedelic movie ever made! Unlike the dodgy DVD version floating around ours is full-frame retaining more of the original image and includes the original theatrical trailer! Recommended!!

LSD - Hell for a Few Dollars LSD - Inferno per pochi dollari ("LSD - Hell For A Few Dollars" aka LSD - La droga del secolo / "LSD - The drug of the Century", 1967)

Fun spy film starring Guy Madison as a secret agent out to stop an undercover organization who is smuggling LSD as part of an evil plan! More of a spy film then a drug film, still lots of fun with a few wacky trip scenes! With Franca Polesello, Mario Valgoi, Lucio De Santis Adriano Micantoni and Lucia Modugno.

Perversion Story
Perversion Story (Las Trompetas del apocalipsis aka I Caldi amori di una minorenne, 1969)
SLIGHTLY WIDE-SCREEN PICTURE
ENGLISH LANGUAGE
Directed by Julio Buchs, Spain / Italy
After his sister kills herself, a man delves into the swinging mod scene to find out why.
It seems the only clue is a small piece of classical music that is heard right before she threw herself out of a window! A fun thriller with a misleading title (there's not much perversion going on) and a hilarious misrepresentation of the London club scene. (The dj uses one turntable and when the record's done the kids all stop dancing and stand still and patiently wait for him to flip it over! Am I the only one that thinks this is funny??) Starring Marilu Tolo and Brett Halsey, with Romina Power. (Not to be confused with Lucio Fulci's "One On Top Of The Other" which was also released around the same time as "Perversion Story"!)

Popcorn

Popcorn (aka Peter Clifton's Popcorn aka Popcorn: An Audio-Visual Rock Thing, 1969)
UNCUT & RESTORED VERSION
WIDE-SCREEN PICTURE

Directed by Peter Clifton, USA / Australia
We have tracked down a beautiful looking remastered version with wide-screen picture and much improved sound. Most importantly this version is uncut and runs 79 minutes. (Our old version was only about 1 hour long.) "Popcorn" is a music film that features live footage and studio films from The Rolling Stones, Otis Redding, Jimi Hendrix, Vanilla Fudge, The (pre-disco) Bee Gees and Twiggy doing a runway fashion walk to the theme from "A Man and A Woman"! (Does it get much cooler than THAT I ask you?) . The Stone's promo films for "Jumpin' Jack Flash" and "2000 Light Years From Home" are highlights, as well as a very psychedelic promo film for Traffic's "Hole In My Shoe" and Vanilla Fudge performing live in a small room! Nice psychedelic montage sequences too! Our new uncut version also includes performances by Austalia's The Groove and singer Russell Morris featuring some very psychedelic footage. This longer version also includes more pop art and psychedelia missing from the 1 hour version. Also includes alternate Jimi Hendrix and Otis Redding footage from the VHS version.

Revolution Revolution (1968)
Directed by Jack O'Connell , USA

Effective documentary on the Haight Ashbury hippie scene. The camera follows cute 20 year old Today Malone around and interviews many people, those in the hippie scene and otherwise, getting their views on what's happening. Includes live music by Country Joe and the Fish, The Steve Miller Band, Quicksilver Messenger Service and Mother Earth (who does the theme song). There is also some decent music in the score that is not featured on the soundtrack LP. Mostly this is a talking film with some nice psychedelic visuals and music interludes. A bit dated but a truly nice artifact and if you like this kind of thing then I can heavily reccomend it!

Rock, Baby, Rock it! Rock, Baby, Rock It! (1957)
Directed by Murray Douglas Sporup, USA
"Man, that cat comes on like Godzilla!" Silly story about some teenagers fighting against a mob trying to take over their favorite hangout or something is the excuse for a very cool showcase of live musical Rock-N-Roll, rockabilly, r&b and doo wop performances by Johnny Carroll, Roscoe Gordon and more obscure acts such as Preacher Smith and the Deacons, The Five Stars and others!
Includes the original theatrical trailer!

Rock, Pretty Baby! Rock, Pretty Baby! (1956)
Directed by Richard Bartlett, USA
Teen melodrama that is kinda' fun in a cheezy and unintentionally funny way but pretty horrible if you're wanting to really rock out! John Saxon and Sal Mineo star with Luana Patten, Edward Platt, Fay Wray, Rod McKuen and a young Shelley Fabares, featuring original music by Sonny Burke, Bill Carey, Henry Mancini, Rod McKuen, Bobby Troup and Phil Tuminello.

Rockin' The Blues Rockin’ The Blues (1956)

IN SPANISH LANGUAGE WITH ENGLISH SUBTITLES
Directed by Gilberto Martínez Solares, Mexico
Now with English subtitles! Elizabeth Campbell, Amadee Chabot, Maura Monti, and Isela Vega play 4 sexy hitwomen in this ultra-rare crime satire! With the cool clothes of the era and the pop / rock music score, I'd like to call this a Mexican version of The Touchables but, to be honest, the film isn't quite as "pop" but still worth a look. Nice looking picture although the sound is a bit "hot" but not too bad.

Really nice looking copy of this documentary on the swinging London scene! This version includes a few short bits cut from other versions. It has a nicer looking more colorful picture with no Japanese subtitles found in our last copy. Featuring interviews with Michael Caine, Mick Jagger, psychedelic body painter Alan Aldridge, Julie Christie, Andrew Loog Oldham and others, with music by The Pink Floyd, and more! Often confused with the later released Pink Floyd montage "London '66 - '67", this is the actual documentary for which that footage was originally shot. Running time is app. 67 minutes.

I’m a sucker for flicks like this: A group of 4 cute swinging mod English chicks kidnap their favorite rock singer and hide him in a huge isolated plastic dome for fun & frolic! A fun sexy pop-comedy with soundtrack music by a '60s group called Nirvana! (Smells like a lawsuit to me!) A lot of these types of movies from this era don't hold up nearly as well as this one does! I admit that I have a soft spot for this movie and while a lot of people would be put off by it's silly style and meandering storyline, I can tell you that this is one of my favorite films! Rumor has it that David Bowie was originally considered to play the rock star! Includes the original theatrical trailer! We now offer a nice looking uncut version!

Urlatori alla sbarra
Urlatori Alla Sbarra + bonus Lucio Fulci documentary from Italian tv Dr. Fulci’s American Night (1959)
IN ITALIAN LANGUAGE WITH NO SUBTITLES
Directed by Lucio Fulci, Italy
A rock-n-roll film starring Elke Sommer featuring Italian artists Mina, Joe Sentieri, wacky Adriano Celentano and others, and featuring a rare performance by Chet Baker! The quality on this black & white obscurity is very good, save for a small Italian tv logo in the corner. The bad news: This picture is in Italian only. The good news: The characters break into song & dance at the drop of a hat so there’s pretty much constant music numbers and not a lot of dialogue! The shmaltzy but cool tunes and atmosphere kinda’ reminded me of the '60s beach party flicks of the U.S., but with a more Euro feel of course. More good news: When ordering this we’ll throw in free the rare Italian t.v. documentary “Dr. Fulci’s American Night”! This 30 minute t.v. show shot in ‘94 is a long interview with Fulci (in Italian) plus some film clips.
