Why
are you selling these?
First
off, to make money of course. Secondly, being
big a fan of these films, I got tired of seeing other fans getting
gouged by rip-off dealers who sell overpriced, low quality DVD-Rs
of movies that they have no interest in! I strive to bring you
good looking DVDs at affordable prices. There are so many amazing
movies out there that for one reason or another are impossible to
find. This is what I love and what I specialize in. So, I figured,
why not provide a service and "support my habit" (ie- make
a few bucks) on the side? Kapish? My mission is to continue each week
to scour the planet tracking down rare movies that are not readily
available on home video making them available again for all to enjoy.
Unlike some less scrupulous dealers (no names mentioned) I don't try
to pull the wool over your eyes by offering titles that are readily
available via legit commercial DVD releases. It is illegal and just
uncool!
Are
these tapes & DVD-Rs illegal?
Absolutely not! These
movies are all believed to be in the public domain and are sold from
one collector to another. No rights are given or implied!
What
I am selling is the service of duplicating the tape or disc, the same
as if you took a foreign format videotape into a dealer and paid to
have it converted into your format, only for much less of what that
would cost to do. If a particular title does become commercially available
in the U.S. I must and will discontinue selling it immediately. Furthermore,
I reserve the right NOT to sell a title for any reason I deem necessary!
Also, there are certain countries that have their own laws about what
is legal to import. Therefore the customer assumes all responsibility
for titles prohibited in these countries. In other words, I am not
responsible for movies that are confiscated by the post office in
that country. (This has only ever happened once thus far but you never
know!)
What
is your source for these movies? Where do you get them?
Anywhere
I can! Seriously, it varies a lot from title to title; Many are transfers
of films from private collectors, others are transfers of way out-of-print
tapes from Greece, France, Japan, etc., which is why some English
language films have non-English subtitles. If you want to know on
a particular title just ask and I'll tell you!
How do these movies look? What
is the picture quality like?
It varies from title to title. Generally, they look very good
and if not I will almost always mention any problems in that particular
title's description. Bare in mind that these are "home made"
and are usually not going to look like a new store-bought DVD with
some exceptions. I do use professional dubbing equipment, digital
"video noise" reduction when neccesary, digital color enhancers,
etc. also only when necessary. I
master most all of our DVD-R titles myself, maximizing the bit rate
on each disc as much as possible, and therefore maintain a higher
quality control on my product over what some other dealers provide.
A lot of other dealers spend most of their time making their website
look slick while I prefer to spend my time working on the movies themselves.
As such most titles look very good and I've honestly had very few
complaints ever. Please feel free to email me about a certain title
if you are concerned.
Do
you have any other titles available?
Please feel free to email me your want list. You never know what
I can find!
What don't you
sell?
I do NOT sell child pornography, bestiality or anything illegal so
please don't even ask. Again, I do NOT sell dubs of anything available
commercially in the U.S.A. and most other countries.
Do you trade movies?
I do occasionally trade, but honestly it is very difficult to
find the few things I really need at this point but feel free to ask.
I'm mainly interested in original pre-recorded videotapes, particularly
titles from the late 1960s and 1970s, from different countries. I
am not interested in copies of things unless they are of good quality
and hard to find.
Is that a wig?
No, it's
my real hair.
Do you guarantee these DVD-Rs
against defects?
All
of my Collectors' Movies are guaranteed against "major defects".
An occasional glitch from my master source does not qualify as a defect!
In the unlikely event of something being defective, it will be promptly
replaced with a non-defective copy of the same movie. Again,
bare in mind that these home-made, not original factory produced DVDs,
so while they will generally look good they will, for the most part,
NOT look like a store bought movie with some exceptions. Also,
I am not responsible if you buy a film from us that you already own
under another title!
Can I play DVD-Rs on my player?
At this point most DVD players can play the DVD-R format without
problems. However, if you are unsure, you might want to do a bit of
research to make sure your DVD player can play them. Many older players
will still play DVD-Rs fine even though it may not mention it in the
instruction manual or on the player's box. If you're not sure about
your player, try looking it up online at https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers
(an excellent site!) to see for sure.
In short (too late
for that, right?), we
suggest that if you’re not sure about anything to contact
us. We’d be happy to explain the particulars of a certain film as best we
can.
